Dowdeswell is a small rural community in the heart of the Cotswolds situated some 4.4 miles to the south east of the Spa town of Cheltenham, England. Separated into Upper and Lower Dowdeswell, the Cotswold Way runs at the edge of Dowdeswell Woods, crosses the A40 and runs through Lineover Wood.

What goes on?
The Trustees of the charities responsible for managing the Dowdeswell Village Hall and neighbouring Recreation Ground meet throughout the year to oversee and manage the running and maintenance of the hall and grounds.
The charities rely heavily on village centric fundraising activities, many of which are also organised with the aim of bringing villagers and friends of the village and neighbouring communities together. Previous events have included barn dances, wine tasting, guest speakers, rounders matches and more. Additional funds are also secured through the regular rental of the Village Hall for private parties and other events.
Details of upcoming events are featured in the News section of the website. There is also a regular email newsletter that is circulated to all subscribed individuals. Subscription is free and can be completed here.
Dowdeswell Parish Council meet regularly at the Dowdeswell Village Hall. Besides various other duties, members consider all planning applications. A link to details of planning applications can be found in the planning section of this website.
The Church of St Michael’s, situated in Lower Dowdeswell, serves as the Parish Church for the villages of Dowdeswell and Andoversford. It is part of the Coln River Group of parishes.
Dowdeswell has one pub in close proximity. The Kilkeney Inn is situated on the A436 just above Upper Dowdeswell.
